UPA Homeowner FAQ: How Our Services Work
❓ Does UPA take money from my rebuild funds?
No. Every dollar the insurance company owes for repairing or rebuilding your home goes to you. Our services never reduce your rebuild money.
❓ How does UPA get paid?
By law, public adjusters are paid a percentage of the collected settlement from the insurance company. This is money you would never personally receive—it comes from the insurer, not from your pocket.
❓ Is it like a contractor’s “overhead and profit”?
In a way, yes. Insurance settlements often include extra amounts for professional services like a contractor’s overhead and profit (O&P). Similarly, public adjuster compensation is built into the claims process. But unlike O&P, our fee is tied to advocacy and claims support, not construction.
❓ Do I ever pay UPA out of pocket?
Never. UPA bills the insurance company directly. You will never see an invoice from us for our services.
❓ Who pays for inspections, engineers, or reports needed for my claim?
UPA does. We cover all claim-related expenses through our nonprofit mission. You don’t pay for the experts or documentation we use to fight for you.
❓ Why should I use UPA?
Because insurance companies have experts working for them—you deserve experts working for you. UPA makes sure nothing is overlooked, negotiations are fair, and you receive every dollar you are entitled to.
❓ What makes UPA different from other public adjusters?
We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3). That means our mission is advocacy, not profit. Every dollar we earn goes back into helping families recover, not shareholders or private owners.
